About John

Ever found yourself wondering about the soft light of the morning sun or the smells of a gentle rain? Why this planet and this time? The amount of coincidental events necessary to create what you see goes beyond reason, beyond anything. Except there is a possibility. Why fight it? Faith is not an accident!

US Navy: Nine years, two submarines, four reactors and a bluenose!

navyAfter quickly discovering I could not afford college, I decided to try my hand at one of the toughest jobs in the world. It took some testing and quite a bit of school, but I finally found myself operating nuclear reactors on US Navy submarines. I had nearly two years of training, served two years as a prototype instructor (USS Sam Rayburn, SSBN 635/MTS-635) and then five years on the USS Bluefish, SSN75. Best job experience in the world. Also did three Med-cruises, went under the Polar ice-caps and chased drug boats through the Panama Canal.

Intel Corporation: Building software is more than plug-and-play!

Hired straight out of the military meant I had the continued stability associated with knowing where I was going in life. I started with Intel performing maintenance and waste chemical disposal and within the first two years, moved into a job doing web development. After finishing three degrees in Computer Science, I now find myself as an Architect/Software Developer, helping to create the software applications that keep intel humming along.

My area of focus lately has been around metadata management and how that can keep the bottom line low while helping to keep employees productive.

Faith and family: There is a balance, you just need to find it!

sidI am married to a cartoon character, well, if you knew me you would know what I'm talking about. We have four children between us and practice a very faithful life while attending a United Methodist Church. There are challenges such as having three kids in college at the same time as well as helping to keep the household running as smoothly as possible. We celebrate our anniversary each year with a cruise or big trip. Anything worth loving is worth celebrating. Without my family I would be lost.

Gaming 101: I am a gamer, I am a geek!

I love technology and all you can do with it. My life is more rich with the experiences and people that I have discovered while emersing myself in the gaming arena. I am not a professional, but I know plenty that are. My current rig is an XBox 360, where you'll find me most nights playing Halo3 with friends.

I game for the camaraderie with friends. Those key moments, when you come together and work as a team. Driving a vehicle straight into the base for the flag capture. Assists. Support. Friendship. It is the reason I game and the soundtrack that plays in the back of my mind when describing events to non-gamers.
I also support the Bungie Studios gaming community as an administrator for Halo.Bungie.Org. Oh yeah, I also had my five seconds of fame by being included on the Halo2 and Halo3 extra's DVD shipped with the game. Gamertag: CYBRFRK (Cibor Freek, Arizona!) [Youtube Cortana Chronicles]
