Home » Technology » I’ve now had my Android G1 for over a year

It’s hard to believe but a week ago I passed one year using my G1 (HTC-Dream), and I can safely say that “I LOVE IT!” Sure there are some issues, but I can pretty much count all those as coming from the provider (T-Mobile) and not the device. It would be nice, just once, to visit Iowa or other states and actually not see the “no data services” message. Why pay for nationwide coverage when it really means, only where we provide. If I pay for nationwide, you (provider) should be covering me while I roam. It’s a service — so serve!

Back to my phone.

Everything listed here i use all the time.
I’ve tried other apps and removed them until I found what truly works.
Just passed my 1 year anniversary with my G1 (HTC Dream) and with few exceptions, it’s the best phone I’ve ever used.

So I thought I would give a list of the applications I use almost on a daily basis. I’ve tried other apps and removed them until I found what truly works.

  • Bank of America
  • Evernote
  • fBook
  • Googe Voice
  • Google Maps
  • Google Talk
  • Photoshop (release a few days ago)
  • Pictorial
  • Pkt Auctions (eBay tool; used it while in a plane on the runway and sitting in church)
  • Ringdroid
  • Shot (past time fun)
  • Twidroid
  • Where
  • Woot Checker
  • wpToGo (for managing my (this) WordPress site remotely)

What are your favorite applications?

My “missing” feature is to get this sucker upgraded to Android 2.0, which may not happen unless I root-hack it or T-Mobile finds a way to install it in the limited memory space available on the Dream. Let me just say that if they can’t upgrade us I’ll be moving to Verizon and picking up the Droid when my current contract is up. There are other reasons (like 90% of the family is over there), but I’ll go where the service and phone is.

Come on T-Mobile — DELIVER!
